I always wondered, if someone is going to ___ destination to be a tourist, what good is a high-end place when a successful trip means you're generally at the hotel to sleep? (Please folks, nothing ribald for this thread.)
The private islands are another category, since there's nothing else around. But in London or Florence, there are more than a few sights to explore, innit?
Perhaps a separate category for "luxury hotel is itself a destination" is warranted?
