Hilton Garden Inn, Sanliurfa, Turkey
I stayed here 3 nights, these are my comments:
Location - Excellent, 5 minute walk to the Archeology Museum, 15-20 minute walk to the Bakligol area (Prophet Abrahams pool, medresseh, Castle (not open). Next door to Piazza mall, which has a good food court if you want a quick really cheap meal given the TLR exchange rates (Mc D’s, Burger King, Popeyes and a host of Turkish places plus a supermarket).
The bus to Gobekle Tepe leaves from outside the museum, 3 times a day 9:45, 12:45 and 15:45, 13 TLR cash one way, unless you are lucky enough to find a place that sells the Urfa Kart bus card. Bus took 55 minutes to get there. Returns at 12:00, 15:00 and either 17:45 or 18:00.
Room - clean, no mould in shower, AC works, excellent water pressure, bath towels, hand towels, no wash cloths, tissues, 2 bottles water replaced daily.
The not so good - breakfast, 3 hot items that are room temperature, lots of cheese, fruit, vege etc, no egg station.
I had a late evening due to a conf call, went to restaurant where after being ignored for 10 minutes I gave up and went to the mall next door.
self service laundry - drier does not work properly count on the drier taking 3 hours, no English instructions.
something I noticed here and at the HGI Mardin - at Breakfast nobody ever asked me for my room #, nor did I see anyone get asked.
Would I stay here again, probably if I needed the nights to requalify for status, but if I did not have Hilton status I would go local.
