I arrive for the check-in, and I ask about Bay View room. App shows as available. They tell me the Bay View side rooms are not upgrade-eligible. Does this make sense to you? Categories here are standard > cityview > union sqr view > bay view > club flr > suite. You're telling me a Globalist is not eligible for a 2-category upgrade that's only $50 price difference per cash rate?

Anyways, they give me a room with Union Sqr view. They give me a handicap access room which is very different from a regular room at this property. I've stayed here before and thought the bathroom was nice. But the handicap-accessible bathroom at this hotel feels like a hospital bathroom and this is not the type of room they should assign to a Globalist.
The soundproofing does not exist. It's not the wall or the loudness of the neighbor. It's the design flaw of the connecting door. I stuffed bath towels underneath the door, but that wasn't enough. Huge sound of door slamming every time the neighbor goes in and out. They're not even talking loud, but can still hear them. I find out vast majority of the rooms here have connecting doors. That's a problem, if your connecting door is so porous.

So yeah the room assignment and upgrade possibilities for Globalists here are not good. Still a good hotel imho based on previous stay, but this last stay was not good.
I would have refused the ADA room and think it should be kept for individuals that need it. You'd think a Globalist could at least get a Club floor room.
