Really? I could have sworn LH enforced it, but it is very possible I’m confusing it with the bulkhead row rule, although I thought it also applied to exit rows. Learn something every day!
edit: missed that you said North American airline. In any case, I must be either misremembering something entirely or conflating one airline’s rules with industry.
