Any tips on changing a purchased ticket ?
I normally fly United, but due to some scheduling I had to book Alaska this year. I purchased my ticket for about $475 a few months ago but have to make a change to another date 2-3 days earlier.
The fares on alaskaair.com for this new date are pricing around $550. However, when I call to change the fare, the agent says she doesn't have access to the internet fares even on their own website. The cheapest she quotes for these flights are $750.
Being new to Alaska, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get my ticket changed and hopefully only pay the $50 fee plus 550-475 difference instead of the 750-475 difference for the same flight. Ticket is non-refundable.
I understand airline pricing seldom makes any sense, but this just seems a little weird to me (at least it's never happened to me on UAL =) ).
Thanks!
