Just finished a big stay here with extended family. We had 5 night, 3 night (that connected with our 5 night room), and another 2 nighter. I'm Globalist, did a GoH booking and the last was a regular booking. I was offered upgrades to higher floor and suites but the only guaranteed connected room was the normal double queen deluxes looking out into the lobby area. Not a bad view but since windows cant be opened anyways, no big deal. Actually looking out and seeing how busy the breakfast area and valet area was is also ok. We had the modern rooms because we absolutely hate carpets, especially ones that have been around way too long. The bathroom could definitely get an improvement. Shower over Tub, plastic curtain, no towel hooks, so we brought out some hangers to hang towels for the 4 (2+2) of us in 1 room.
Breakfast buffet has reopened and was a decent option. We ended up having extra guests on our bill and on checkout, they cleared out the extra $22 charge we had from one morning. I'm still not exactly sure how the Globalist benefits work for breakfast, but we got out without paying extra. I wouldn't pay for this every morning of my stay if I had to pay but it was useful since we headed to Disney 3 of those days. Drove ourselves to the parking lot since we had 2 free parking passes from Magic Keys. Hint: goto the parking lot on Harbour and not the one in the back thats multi-stories. It was much more efficient.
Only went to the South Tower pool one morning after breakfast next to the Sports Area. It was going to be 90 degrees that day so the pool was good. Pool has no qualities though. It's just a pool with a large deck area. Definitely not "resort" like, unless that North pool has the other amenities.
Valet was $36, self parking $28!!! For leaving the hotel once a day, it's pretty pricey for an area with plenty of parking. Also, you'd think with these rates the Valet guys wouldn't try to stand around and ask for cash tips that often. I only tip at the end of trip, and they didn't do themselves any favors. Definitely the difference between visiting a place like Ritz Carlton Vail, Ventana Big Sur, and Carmel Valley Ranch. Even the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento was less aggressive. Perhaps they're trying to take advantage of foreigners not used to the system... The employees there are much less aggressive for tips and I wish hotels would just build more pay into these services.
