Lounges are better in CDG, by a lot.

Other than that, the transfer experience is sill better at AMS. Especially if you arrive from a secure country, which both of US and UK are.

I would rate the experience so:

With lounge:
S-S: CDG>AMS

S-NS: CDG>AMS
NS-NS: CDG~AMS

Without lounge:
S-S: CDG~AMS
NS-S: AMS>CDG
S-NS: AMS>CDG
NS-NS: AMS>CDG if secure, CDG~AMS if not secure
