Honestly, the sum of my experiences with Marriott to date (as a multi-year Ambassador) is such that at this point I don't take anything about a room for granted until I'm in it with the door deadbolted behind me.

And I'd say that the odds of that key card continuing to work over the course of the stay are about 50%. If a late checkout is involved, it goes down to about 25%.
