Make sure that any rate quite includes not only CDW, but also third-party-liability insurance, which California requires that renters have.
Note that even if you were to pick up your vehicle at the "airport" location, you would still have to ride a (free) rental-company shuttle bus to get your car.
Some of the off-airport rental-car locations are located inside hotels which might have their own free shuttles from/to the airport. I'm not sure how the hotels feel about car-rental customers using the hotel shuttles to pick up a car
Thanks for the tips! I might have another look and see if I CAN return to the "Airport" location... that would be very convenient! Yes, I am aware of the usual shuttle rides..in the past with the old pricing that was always the "first stop" for us... Amusingly, while this "HLE" (I think its called) is 5-6km from the airport it is only about 2 or 3kms further away than the places the shuttle takes you... lol
As a foreigner (with no CC rental car cover) I always have to ensure CDW is included. My own travel insurance covers Liability if the rental does not. I do intend to check that however and thanks again for the advice.
EDIT: I checked.... and literally for "A few dollars more" I can indeed return the car to LAX.. GREAT ADVICE! Slapping myself wondering why I didn't check that. Will cancel and rebook...which is of course a wonderful feature of rental car bookings!
