I rather like this EDITION because it breaks away from the beige Schrager mold; this one is moodier, more colorful in spots and more reminiscent of where it is [i.e. the scorched wood, all the blacks, use of wool]. I find the Schrager-designed EDITIONs nice enough but derivative, and feel like if you've seen one of those, you've just about seen them all: wood floors, beige walls, white bed, faux fur throw, little gold frame on wall. Big woop - doesn't scream high design to me, nor is it localized. Bear in mind that I do like all the plants everywhere in the public/dining spaces, but between the lack of overall design "oomph" and the way that Marriott parades each EDITION as such a revolutionary, groundbreaking, ultra-unique, one-of-a-kind, game-changing, system-challenging and scene-redefining stroke of Ian Schrager's boundless genius, it makes me clock out.
