Its of my opinion the Sheraton Grande would likely be 2 or 3 cuts above any Marriott Sydney/Melbourne in its elegance, rooms & public areas (timeless)
Great renovation to the rooms and suites prior to pandemic
Also perhaps the most elegant lounge in Sydney with upscale evening offerings.Intercontinental has a nice lounge too but the hotel sucks is stingy and
has always had bad ownership
The recent room renovation at the InterCon a state of the art Holiday Inn standard meaning a massive failure in hard product
Booked 5 nights @ Sheraton Grand for 140 k Bonvoid points (5th night free) and its a steal when you compare rates around town.28k a night!
I equate that to a few hundred US dollars a night

I've almost always been upgraded to a jr suite on most stays overlooking the Park
The Westin in Sydney sadly became another brand which also previously was another great choice.
The restaurant was one of my favorites for lunch or dinner and I don't like most hotel restaurants. Now gone
My other go to properties in Sydney typically include
Park Hyatt Sydney the revenue and redemption rates are sky high now no club lounge but the most fab views of the Opera House
Hyatt Regency Sydney (rooms are a few cuts below Sheraton Grande but adequate/comfy nice enough (prefer the new tower)
unless one wants a balcony then the old tower
and IMO the best Club Lounge value in Sydney at a fantastic price. The lounge has its own omelette chef in the mornings
It also has the most exciting outdoor bar on the roof IMHO worth a trip even if you don't stay there
The GM there is a legend Jane and I'll be back just because of that.I've known her from former Hilton and Starwood/Marriott properties
The Sheraton Grand has a small gym but one of better equipped hotels in the city.
With all the properties in the city I still consider it one of the best in the city regardless of price
Its a bargain on points and a good value even on revenue.Sometimes the best rates can be had two weeks before arrival
If the hotel doesn't have high occupancy rates fall
I never book a non refundable rate
