My remarks were addressed to a poster listing his/her location as Canada. Maybe incautious of me to assume that meant a Canadian national, someone who can get an Egyptian visa on arrival…..but there you are.

Egypt excludes 80-odd countries from gaining a VOA; and you are right, the list covers most of Africa. Sadly, such restrictions are pretty widespread: I believe the UK opens its doors freely only for Africans who are citizens of Namibia and Botswana.
