I’ve sprinted like a maniac for miles and miles through DOH over the years to get to my next GCC flight, and I’m always greeted by a gate full of people moseying on in to hang out and boarding not beginning for anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes despite the screen flashing FINAL CALL.
I know, I know … yet we still fall for it. I'd just begun the trek to my (Jeddah) gate when the FINAL CALL thing started. The rational part of my brain knew it was nonsense, but with a kilometre or so to go the messier part of my brain kicked in: I upped my pace, transferred to the moving-walkway thingy …… only to join a very long queue, followed by a very long wait in a crowded gate-lounge.
