If so, how do I go about doing it? Do I cancel with Spirit, get what they are offering, and contact CSR for the remainder?
Thanks in advance!
No need to speculate. I would contact the CSR trip-cancellation insurance representative and ask whether you need to cancel the Spirit ticket before departure in order to be able to make a successful claim with Chase's insurer.
You will almost certainly need a doctor's note indicating not only the date of the surgery, but also giving a medical opinion that the patient should not -- for medical reasons -- travel on the ticketed travel date.
