What you ask is madness beyond reason. Or at least the Bonvoy T&Cs which state you must stay *and* pay for the room to receive benefits so I wouldn't go shouting about your scheme too loudly on a public forum that is visited by Bonvoy employees.
On the other hand, being nice to the hotel, reaching out beforehand, and asking politely won't kill you and as others have discovered you may luck out. You're just not entitled to it.
