as has been noted already, the ECDC and EASA have just recommended dropping of face coverings.

Every EU country can decide to follow this or not as they with, they are autonomous in this regard. My understanding is Spain and Italy have not yet dropped the requirement for face coverings for public transport so you should follow their rules.
