I flew from ORD to MUC last week in paid Business Class. I was inclined towards UA for the Polaris lounge at ORD, which I'd visited pre-COVID. Really impressive and it did not disappoint. I like to schedule long layovers to be safe so I actually had time to enjoy it.
In-flight food/beverage was abysmal. FAs were fine but they can't select the food options. As mentioned earlier- no menu, no bread basket, dessert (a paper carton of gelato) served on the tray with the entree. When I asked what white wines they had the answer was "a Chardonnay and a Spanish white". Really? Breakfast was nasty. "Egg white bites" had a peculiar doughy texture and were cold in the middle. I didn't bother asking for them to be reheated because it wouldn't have been much improvement.
I'm a down-to-earth, no-frills person 99% of the time but when I splurge on something that's supposed to be "premium" I expect better. Before booking UA on a long-haul again I'm going to check here and see if they've gotten any better.
