Ok, probably like many of the FT congregation gathered here tonight, I'm going through the "why, why, oh why" phase. But I'd be reasonably confident that for multiple reasons the cabin crew will ask, if not instruct, you not to use a hot dog heater whilst airborne. But in any even the plug will probably short itself temporarily to protect the power supply.
I suspect, looking at those spikes, we can be reasonably confident that this wouldn't even make it through security and into the cabin as hand luggage, so anything else is moot.
I'd also hazard a guess that this powers through a mains plug of some description to IEC320 leads. You simply can't plug one of those into multiple sockets, so sharing across multiple outlets just doesn't make sense.
