Some ffp's. like AA, use zones for awards. Some ffp's, like BA, use distance for awards.
An increasing trend is to have low cost/saver/standard awards and dynamic awards. With dynamic awards the ff cost can be anything (low to extremely high)
Using ff miles on a partner airline can be different to using on your own airline. Need to check the fine details
