If not on your PNR, potentially a problem -- not too common, but not unknown.

If on your PNR, then that is a supported access and not problem.

The off-PNR guesting into E+ is not a published benefit and appears to have not formal internal mechanism but is an informal "courtesy" benefit and this can occasional happen. As the OP mention it had never happened to them previously,
