Sure, I understand that and with no more details I would trust the Captain's judgement.
But if that's the case then this person should not be allowed to fly again. If they are a threat to others on board for one flight then they are a threat for all flights. I guess we don't know how this played out.
Having said that, the fact that they decided to return to the gate a 2nd time for someone who was going to miss their connection does make me doubt the Captain's judgement a bit. Again, we don't have all the details but was this 2nd person also a safety risk? We're they barred from future flights? I guess it's possible but it seems unlikely.
This is not an Uber ride; you don't make a detour every time someone requests it.
