Disputing a Hilton Amex charge. Didn’t make the charge.
Here’s a new one for me. My wife’s Hilton Amex had an almost $500 charge on it from Amazon. We used this card pretty heavily during the promo for $8000 for a free night in Nov-Jan. Have used it for less than $100 in purchases since March.
While it is listed as a payment method on my Amazon account, my wife doesn’t have an Amazon account of her own.
I wasn’t expecting to see any charges on her Amex account. I doublechecked with her, and she hadn’t used it. I disputed it online, as “Did not recognize charge” and just checked now, and they have refused the chargeback a few days later.
I tried to check if an older charge had been rerun or something backordered, but nothing.
I haven’t called AMEX or Amazon yet. I don’t see any small fraudulent orders or charges on my Amazon account. No purchases were made in that amount, or within weeks of the transaction date.
