Yeah, that's a fair point.

And a related point is just zone boarding when they combine z1 & z2. That's probably less common at the hubs now, but still a factor at the outstations. (Although I still don't understand why; do those same agents also combine UA boarding groups? But I digress....)

That's always been a problem, but it gets worse as the number of elites increases.
I'm a little bit more torn about this one, because it's also based on the time of booking .... a factor which is under your control .... but yes, I get it, more competition will make those upgrades harder to grab.
