QA doesn't currently have flights through Chile, so I am thinking my best bet will be to go through the US on the way.
That being the case, on AA I cannot get it to price out awards from EZE though the US on to any city in Australia. If I break it out per segment then it will but it charges me more. I also noticed today that on the awards charts on AA it says something to the effect that you cannot book from South America 2 to the Pacific on AA, but you can on partners. So now I am more confused.
Does anyone have any advice they could offer here?
Some of the T&C's on AA's award charts (and the rest of aa.com) are woefully outdated. Since LAN is no longer a partner there's no way to currently fly between South America and the South Pacific on a single award. The only option is to book 2 awards, EZE-USA + USA-Australia.
If QF were to start a flight between Australia and SA then that would be the only option for getting something like this on a single award.
Even though the itinerary will price out as 2 awards it is still possible to book everything in the same PNR, if that is desired.
