I think this slightly misrepresents the situation.
ECDC is no longer recommending face coverings, and EASA has followed that. However, as they already do, each individual country can decide whether to follow this or not as they wish (in the same way the EC recommended entry requirements for covid but each country could do there own thing). I am sure many countries will follow with the ECDC/EASA advice, but it certainly isn't a blanket lifting of the face covering requirement. Airlines may also still set their own policies.
For now I think people still need to check the requirements for the country they are travelling to, and I suspect some EU countries won't immediately drop it just yet. However, I do expect the list of EU countries requiring face coverings will decrease going forward so it is very positive
