How do you know it's "officially" supposed to be like this? Is an official policy posted somewhere? The only thing I've seen are on blogs and FT, which are hardly authoritative. I would love to see something from AA about this.

Also, what do you mean "obviously" they changed their FF number and it tricked the system? It's not clear to me how changing their FF number would render the system unable to see which carrier sold the ticket.
