I'm in the group that wouldn't give gifts to flight crew. But I was on the inaugural departure from Nuremburg to London a few years ago, which was timed to coincide with their renowned Christmas Market, Der Christkindlesmarkt, just before the start of Advent. I ended up with a small packet of 6 gingerbread biscuits, wrapped in cellophane. So one biscuit for each member of crew. I handed the packet over, on boarding, to the CSM, as they then were, and she looked slightly taken aback. Sensing she was unsure, I said something like "well, maybe run it past the flight deck to see if this is OK" - and she looked relieved at an easy way forward.

Towards the end of the flight the SFO (Seriously Feed Often) came over to me to say thanks for the biscuits, he and the captain had enjoyed them so much that they had devoured the lot.
