A token of appreciation to the crew away from their families so you can have a Christmas break in Barbados is really not too much.
It may be dangerous to generalise, though. There are some crew who would prefer to spend Christmas at home with their families rather than being downroute, and some crew who love spending Christmas downroute with their family who've travelled with them to a lovely warm destination.
