I read the had writen note that said 360 cans of Value Baked Beans for XXXXXXX Cafe picking up tonight, so it seems that Tesco has a selective bulk buying policy and not an overall bulk buying policy.
Just guessing here, but I'm sure that most retailers wouldn't mind if you did it by arrangement. What they get upset about is when you turn up at, say, 8 am on a sunny summer's morning and buy all the strawberries in the shop. It causes aggravation when other customers don't get a fair crack of the whip, and even with the best distribution logistics they probably can't get it restocked until the next day. Whereas if you pre-arrange it, they can order it in; end of problem.
