I occasionally use lounges on arrival, but not often enough I'm concerned about this change. If this was an AMEX Platinum only issue they would have made the limitation on those cards only. Centurion holders don't despair, you can still enjoy all the fine food and beverages on arrival.
There is no contradiction here.
The change can be extreme with regard to its impact on any individual, while being ineffectual in making any substantive correction to the overcrowding problem.
