Hah - I rather enjoy being "overcomped". --
Actually -- that's also one of the reasons I typically play at a competing chain from the property I'm staying at. I can easily walk up to a casino host at Caesar's and when they see that I'm gambling there without actually staying there they'll gladly send a meal comp to a restaurant for me. Whereas if I want a meal comp'd at Bellagio the host will typically just tell me charge it to the room and they'll selectively take things off the tab at checkout. And if I don't have enough play (I typically don't) I get bupkis.
I keep a pretty tight ledger of wins and losses, and I'm more than certain I'm currently "overcomp'd" @ MGM. But they seem to have pretty short memories. Last I recall their system re-eval'd player deciles every quarter or so to determine promos. And from the comps I continue to get, I don't seem to have moved around much. Hoping the computers don't catch up with me eventually
