The Non-Schengen gates in HEL have been planned to work well with priority boarding with separate holding pens for priority pax. Even if you would enter the holding pen just before actual boarding starts, you will get onboard before anyone in the standard boarding groups.
Indeed, almost forgot those ones! I think it's sort of a step in the right direction, but have to say that the whole concept of having people queue up so they can be put in a confined space to queue up again (sort of) is somewhat amusing. I'm sure there's some logic to it, but I probably would have not designed it that way myself
My idea of a well-working priority boarding would be one where priority pax would be able to show up at their convenience and not have to queue up. But maybe that's asking for too much
