However flash flooding can be a danger. One tear I was in sedona and had some rain but we heard on the news later that 9 people had been killed by a flash flood in a canyon

I know (spent the past 25-years in AZ, valley and mountains.) Storms are most afternoons and can be long term. Of course, with climate change, all bets are off on what this year will hold.
