So having recently arrived in LAX on today’s BA283 I thought I’d post a few comments as a compare and contrast type of exercise…
Boarding was via bus from A10 which really irks me. We did have priority / group boarding but it’s pretty meaningless when you’re then driven to a remote stand. Departure was delayed as a result.
We did get a PDB but it was just water or OJ. No amenity kits yet again.
Food was average. The salad starter is pitiful: some mixed leaves, three thin slices of cucumber and half a cherry tomato. Is BA so desperate to save money that the decision was made to only have half a cherry tomato in the salad? Some red onion and grated carrot or radish would add something.
The main was a choice of chicken curry or vegetable pasta. The curry could have been hotter (temperature) and was quite bland. I appreciate not everyone likes spicy food but this was 0/10 in that regard. Dessert was panna cota with - possibly - a mango coulis. It was the best thing on the plate.
We did get a full bar service before dinner and the Speedbird / Brewdog ale was on the cart so I indulged.
The second meal was the pitiful half-sandwich and kitkat with the choice being coronation chicken or cucumber and mint. It beggars belief that BA still thinks that this is an acceptable second meal on a long haul flight.
We had frequent water / juice runs through the cabin with water and OJ being the only options.
Second time on the A350 and my perception of the seat hasn’t changed: it’s uncomfortable. I still felt as if I was constantly sliding forward. The gentleman in the row in front couldn’t sit still and so his seat was bouncing back and forth like a yo-yo.
Crew were indifferent. Nothing stood out in a particularly negative way but no one would be earning a Golden Ticket on the flight either.
Pictures of the food follow:
Having done a lot of LHR - LAX flights in my time this one seemed to take an eternity. My views on the A350 remain mixed; the jury’s still out. I’ve a pair of flights booked later in the year, in Club thanks to a GUF2, so it’ll be interesting to compare that cabin and experience with WT+
