Globaliser makes a good point. I suppose where I was coming from is that even with a potential 1500 additional tier points, I won't progress above my current BA status this year (not enough for GGL). So it was more a general "is it worth status matching with someone else" question, as much as anything to provide an alternative if / when BA prices are high for a certain date.
