On day of arrival in the morning, texted them again. Response was "no suites available". To which I responded "while i see them for sale, I am just asking for a golf view, don't need a suite". Response was "i need to inquire at checkin to see what's available". Okay, not nice but technically according to policy. When I checkin, the frontdesk agent proceeds to thank me for Globalist and then just hands me my standard room. I am already annoyed that I need to ask for an upgraded view when they are supposed to provide that to me. He seemed annoyed but said let's see. He says no Golf view but he can give me a "meadow view". Okay, fine I say. Took the room key and headed out, then noticed no meadow view I am just looking at the noisy highway. We had to rush to get to a dinner reservation so I let it be and thought let's deal with it later. Too tired after dinner to argue with the checkin desk. Next morning, I check and see that all rom categories incl. Golf view and standard suites are available. I have been here before and I could clearly tell the hotel wasn't full - empty spots in parking lot and breakfast restaurant was half empty. So I text the front desk asking why I am not receiving my Globalist upgrade - I can see everything is wide open even suites. Now imagine that. Instead of finally accommodating me they go big and bold and claim - there must be a Hyatt system glitch in the computer as they have NOTHING available. At that point, I was really upset as I knew this was a ridiculous lie. I asked to speak to the GM of the property. They said he would comtame which of course never happened.
So this place stinks and I will never go back.
I got another thing that bugged me. At checkin, the employee warned me that Globalist breakfast is only up to $25 per person for 2 people. To which I replied - is that true because Hyatt policy states otherwise. He doubled down claiming that Hyatt changed the policy recently. Ah, really!!! See, people make mistakes. But these blatsnt lies are clearly on purpose and not simple mistakes. From claiming that the Hyatt website shows unavailable rooms to saying Hyatt has implemented a limit on breakfast spending is just utterly ridiculous.
Surprised they didn't put you in a golf-view, but also surprised anyone cares. I've been put in those rooms so many times I'd frankly rather be facing the highway (at least that way there's a chance I'll see the ocean in the distance). Regarding Hyatt glitches/not honoring suite upgrade, there's a recent discussion in the Hyatt Subreddit that validates the assertion that glitches occur/app doesn't always correctly reflect availability.
Regarding breakfast: this is more and more common at Hyatt properties. Check Alila Napa and PH New York threads as examples. The official policy is that Globalists get free breakfast, and the T&C spells out what that encompasses... so long as you are getting a free breakfast within those terms, they can put a dollar cap on it (even if it is dumb).

This hotel is nothing to write home about, especially as a Cat 5, but they're not as bad as you've made them out to be.
