Horrible to say the least! Absolutely no oversight anymore or really a care. At the end of the day if the property is managed appropriately and they care about customer service they will in good faith follow the program. If they don't feel like it or could care less about the program they simply ignore it and so does Marriott. It is honestly too bad to see this happening all too often now.
The guest literally has to call or attempt to communicate with the hotels before they make a reservation to see what they actually provide. How did all of this so quickly spin out of control? I don't always like referring back to the old SPG days, but I cannot honestly remember making reservations and second guessing if I was going to be allowed the benefits associated with my status - No, I didn't always get an upgrade and such but everything else was pretty much guaranteed. I was never fighting for breakfast, never questioned on 4:00 p.m. checkout (actually always asked if I wanted it) etc.,
