That’s what I did when I couldn’t get the phone rep of Amex Bank to issue a corrected 1099-INT for the savings account signup bonus ($250 instead of $25k). The corrected 1099-INT arrived very quickly after they got the certified/return receipt letter.
But in general, yes, my experiences with Amex customer services have mostly been disappointing.
