My guess is you're representing a very small slice of the pie at EWR. Over the years, I bet I could count the number of passengers I saw walking from B to C on both hands, if not just one. By contrast, I've seen hundreds at least take the AirTrain to do the same transfer.

In reality, the real measure by how airports compare for I-->D connections is how fast is CBP processing and (probably even more important), how fast is baggage delivery. The rest can take care of itself pretty easily.
