If you've stayed at both hotel, do you have a preference? I've not been to Bangkok in 20 yrs, and this stay is part of a trip we may never be able to afford again, so want to make sure I choose wisely!
Yes I have stayed at The Siam as well. The pool of the Verandah suites is visible but only if people in the rooms above stand close to the edge and look down their window. It did not feel very exposed, but if you look at pictures of my 2021 review, admitedly it's clearly not 100% private. At The Siam I did not have a pool suite so I cannot directly compare but I would say the hotel style is very different; it's not the pool set up which is is the key differentiating factor in my humble opinion. The Siam is more into unique art scattered in the property whereas Capella is a far more modern hotel. Siam has fewer than 40 rooms, Capella has 100 therefore Siam might feel more exclusive.

I prefer Capella's location, F&B is better at Capella, and service is good at both but Siam is more at the top of its game at this point in time. I would not strongly disagree with anybody who would prefer The Siam but personally my style is more Capella. I also value the fact that Four Seasons is next door to Capella so for drinks not only I can go to Stella (Capella's bar) but alternatively there is BKK Social at Four Seasons which is Thailand's best bar, full stop. It makes Capella's F&B advantage over Siam even stronger because you kinda of an extra venue available, while Siam is weak in that regard. If you are a non-drinker, this feature goes away.

In any event, you will be treated very well at both properties, I am not worried.
