Zurich - Bregenz - Munich
Will be traveling with Cricketer Jr (who is a teen, so probably not Jr anymore!) and trying to determine our best way to go by train from Zurich to Bregenz, stay overnight, and then the next day get to Munich. Had wanted to drive, and do a day in Liechtenstein but that's prohibitively expensive, at the moment.
Conventional wisdom appears to suggest that the optimal combination of price and flexibility is attained by just buying tickets day of or day before when you're pretty sure of times etc. Anyone have other perspectives or insights here? Or something else we should consider? Maybe a hot tip on a car hire option - would love to drive if I can do it for even $100 a day instead of $250 a day!
We're pretty locked on one night in Bregenz, and then one night in Munich before our flight back home, and will be in Zurich prior to that, so there's limited flexibility in structuring the journey as such.
Thanks!
