IAH -> LHR $599 March 20th.
First was already full but I asked anyway for curiosity.
I would have taken it as the extra 70 tier points would have got me to silver 2 flights early and to gold ( first time) just intime for a longhaul flight later on the year and I could enjoy the lounge at T5 and the extra avios points.
Used the new lounge at IAH, was ok, but no separate area for First /Gold passengers.
The flight from Iah to Lhr in CW was very basic (enhanced?). Pre take off drink, 1.5hr into the flight, drink and meal order, 2hr drink and meal served. No offer of a drink top up. About an hour later, I asked for a can of jetstream to be stopped in the middle of my request with "I think were already out of that, let me check". 5 mins later, the drink appeared. I then fell asleep and woke up 4 hours later and empty glass and empty drink can still on my tray, only to be cleared when they came to server breakfast.

$599 would have been well worth the price to go first.

My main destinations in the US are Houston, Denver and Austin. United are now doing 2 direct flight from IAH and 1 from Den and so my loyalty to BA could be tested in the future.
