I was booked on LAX-HEL-HKG AY flights in June. I was notified yesterday that the HEL-HKG flight was cancelled, and all flights to HKG were cancelled until the end of June due to "restrictions by the Hong Kong authorities." I couldn't find any new COVID restrictions on the Hong Kong government websites. In fact, all the news coverage I saw points to Hong Kong lifting restrictions rather than putting more in.
Does anyone have any clues or theories? I'm also having problems contacting Finnair customer service for rebooking. The online chat box is always unavailable and the hold on Finnair's phone lines are long. I'm not even sure how they can reroute me at this point.
Welcome to the FT and AY+ Forum! HK authorities are constantly cancelling landing permissions for different carriers (for a week, at the moment) if their passengers test positive for Covid. Not a very tempting market for airlines at the moment..
