$250 to reinstate miles - worth it?

I haven’t been a major United customer over the years, mostly flying Alaska and/or partners and Southwest. But I had amassed almost 70k miles over the years. In 2017 or 18, I noticed one day the miles disappeared. I had somehow missed my window of having activity post to the account - I simply miscalculated the timeline deadline. When I noticed the miles had been deleted, I called customer service to no avail. They said they send reminder notices through email, but I never got one.

Because I didn’t get anywhere, I just begrudgingly let it go. I don’t fly United by choice a lot anyway, so I just moved on and just vowed to try not to fly them if I can help it. So I haven’t flown them since. But I have a work trip coming up and a United was the carrier they chose. I anticipate I’ll probably have to take a few UA flight from time to time.

So I went online to tie my UA number to my ticket and saw that miles no longer expire. So I called customer service and inquired if that was a new policy, and it was. I asked about my old miles that disappeared and she said they can reinstate them for $250 for 70,000 miles.

Any one have any thoughts as to whether this is worth it? Thanks.
