  • Booked 3 nights in a Boardwalk Inn King Room via Pay My Way: 1 night paid; 1 night on on points; 1 night on a cat 1-7 free night cert
    • This created many challenges, as the res system set up our stay as three one-night reservations
    • I had to re-key every morning, and one day we were unable to charge to the room since we'd been "checked out" and not re-checked in
    • That said, the front desk at the Boardwalk Inn was lovely
    • The stay still hasn't posted correctly (only posted as 1 qualifying night), so I'll work through getting that rectified in the coming days
  • As a Globalist, I received room category I booked, but with a balcony (and no view) - I wouldn't expect upgrades here
    • Room was quite large with plenty of room for a crib for our 3yo
    • Balcony was large, but view was non-existent (partial view blocked portecoche (sp?) roof)
    • Room was a bit aged - could use a refresh
    • Huge TV (75") and extremely comfortable bed
  • Globalist Breakfast was given via $25 per person certificates for use at either Coastal Provisions (sit down restaurant at Boardwalk Inn), Hudson's Market (Grab & Go / breakfast sandwiches at Residences at Sweetgrass), and another made-to-order breakfast sandwich place by the Golf Pro Shop
    • We took two breakfasts at Coastal Provisions, and found it to be quite good with great service. The certs covered our whole meals
    • The third day, we loaded up on snacks with our certs at Hudson's Market -- those can be used on any food or drink items (no alcohol or gifts, per the Manager there)
  • Resort Fees were proactively removed by the Front Desk without my prompting
The Sweetgrass Inn is brand new - try to get a room there, if available. While fine, the Boardwalk Inn is aging a bit. The Boardwalk Inn does have more direct beach access, though.

Overall, resort grounds were pretty great. The addition of the new Sweetgrass Inn and Pool area is fantastic. Really great setup for families (we have a 3yo). Sweetgrass Inn has a very large resort pool with live music each afternoon and a substantial bar/restaurant. The Boardwalk Inn has an adults only pool, two beach front family pools and a beachfront bar. There are numerous shops and restaurants on the immediate property. We had dinner one night at the pizza place - Coastal Crust, and really enjoyed it. Drink prices were quite high ($7-$8 beers; $13-16 liquor drinks), but we expected that. Food prices were high, but not unreasonable. There is a Harris Teeter about 10 minutes away on the entry to Isle of Palms, so one can load up on drinks or groceries there. Also, the Isle of Palms Marina (3 minute drive) has a market with groceries and beer/wine.

Lots of activities to enjoy at Wild Dunes outside of the beach and pool. There's of course golf, tennis, etc. We rented bikes one day, and found the rates to be somewhat reasonable. Service throughout the resort was quite good.

We also love the restaurant scene in the CHS area, so took advantage to an extent. We had dinner one night at ACME in Isle of Palms (~10 minute Drive) and it was excellent (get the Grit Fries!). Made a stop at Little Jack's Tavern in downtown Charleston on our trip home (Best Burger in the country, IMO).

Overall, we REALLY enjoyed our stay and found it to be a fantastic, driveable option for us from CLT. We will be returning.

thanks so much for this review. Very helpful. Unfortunately, it won’t let us book Sweetgrass inn with points, but I think we are going to go for it and stay at the boardwalk inn in August. I’ll post a review in here after We have done that!
