If you go all the way to the screen where you can select a seat does it shows any seats? Does the seat map shows any seats you can select for free? Sometimes the BA App main screen doesn't reflect the actual seat selection but if you click through it should show. One reason might be that the aircraft changed and your seat is no longer available. If you paid for a seat you should able to select free seats within that category.
