Once you have accepted an alternative you can't normally change again. So if the flights offered aren't satisfactory then you best leave it and call again. Flight numbers and point of sale numbers can change dynamically and I would guess extremely rapidly given the thousands of people affected, but it does settle down and so there is often a case to not rush into anything showing. Some tickets also allow free changes on the day too, separately from all the other factors.
