According to Luchtvaartnieuws (in Dutch) a club of unusually bright sparks claiming to represent people living in the vicinity of Schiphol has declared that the whole mess is the fault of all those transfer passengers. These unwelcome guests not only have to "clear customs twice" between flights, but their bags have to be transferred from one plane to the other! And then again when they fly back! This not only costs the airport money, but somehow also burdens Dutch taxpayers.
