Hi all
I have a trip coming up this Friday to the US that I've had booked for quite some time. Given the prices in the US, I had to make a commitment to a rental car, but recently I noticed that the option of adding an Avis car to the existing BA booking was now cheaper than what I paid elsewhere. So I cancelled the original rental car booking, and added the Avis car to my BA booking.
Unfortunately, due to an expired credit card in my Avis Preferred account, my Preferred loyalty number wasn't accepted as part of the Avis booking via BA.
I corrected my Avis profile and called BA to ask if the Preferred number could be added. Got a very helpful agent on the Gold Line who gave me the BAH booking reference and put me on hold while he tried to get through to BA Holidays, but came back on the line to me and suggested I send them an email instead for such a request.
I sent them an email as per his instructions but, rather predictably, haven't heard anything back.
Over a week later and just three days until my itinerary begins, I called BA again today and after a 40 minute wait, the agent answering the Gold Line just said that I needed to contact BA Holidays and offered to transfer me - but the number I was transferred to said the team was available from 8am to 6pm and as it was now 6:15pm, automatically terminated my call. However, all the BA Holidays contact details I search for indicate that the line is available from 8am to 8pm, so I'm not sure which number I got transferred to.
Any suggestions on what the quickest and most reliable way will be of getting this corrected? Call BAH directly on 0344 4930787 or is there a better way? I've found that Avis Preferred has often saved lots of time at US airport rental car counters, so I'm keen to get it sorted (and a good chunk of rental value added to my Avis profile as well!!)
As always, many thanks in advance to the astonishing collective wisdom of this forum.
