She said it's 18 hours not 24 hours for max connection time. Mine is 18 hours and 25 minutes (not by choice, that's just the next operating flight)
The usual rule used to be that you had up to 4 hours to connect domestically, and 24 internationally. A few years ago, AA started permitting longer connections domestically, but as far as I know, has not shortened the 24-hour maximum for international connections. Perhaps the 18 hours is AA's new maximum for domestic connections, but that should not affect an international itinerary such as yours.

However, even if you have 24 hours to connect, if BA does have a published through-fare DBV-BLQ, then AA will not price the itinerary as a single award. That's just the way AAdvantage works. (An online travel agency might still be able to offer you DBV-LON-BLQ as a combination of two separate fares -- as opposed to a through-fare -- so the ability to purchase the itinerary from a travel agent is not dispositive.)
